What do you collect?

I love to collect things that have meaning for me. I really think this must be genetic. Some of my treasures have been with me since childhood. Some belonged to the wonderful southern women I came from. Here are a few of my favorite things:
Old beaded handbags
Buttons
Birdhouses
Old linens and lace
Vintage clothes, especially baby things
Hats
Old family photos
New family photos
Ribbons
Love letters
White pitchers
White bunnies
Tea pots
Old Chintz Tea cups
Old baby dolls
Books
Vintage Peter rabbit items
Hatpins
Vintage inspire jewelry
Seashells
Stamps for my little boy
Old friends, some newly made.

As you can see, my home looks like a museum. I love it. It's so cozy, comfortable and full of meaning. Each item tells a story about where we were when it was found, or what dear friend passed it along to me. I think it's wonderful to surround oneself with things that have meaning just for you. Your home becomes an extension of who you are and what you value. It can inspire you, bring you peace, and give you comfort. What do you collect?

I know I've mentioned this before, but I can't resist, love your blog template, lol, since we have the same one :)

Collecting... when I was young, I collected stamps. Then my family moved overseas, everything had to fit into 6 suitcases, each less than 35 lbs. We never went back, all is lost now, childhood memorabilia, photos, records, name it. I came to the U.S., my parents moved a couple more times, each time, to a new continent, so we continue to lose everything that is not necessity.

Maybe that's why I scrapbook, holding onto memories that is only in my head for my own history. For my kids, they will have more (way way way more) to look back on than I ever will...

Hi Jing Jing! Thanks for stopping by. That is so sad about your items, but your parents got out the most important things...you children! It is nice to have these treasures, but they could be taken away in a heartbeat. You have your memories and no one can take that away. It's so nice you are preserving your girl's heritage for them, and doing it so beautifully!

Hi there,
I am officially following your blog per the AMR post you left about blog therapy. I have not been on AMR or blogged in forever, so your post was a good thing for me!
As for collections, I don't have as many as you, but I do like to collect many things from buttons to magnets to so much more!
